AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has strongly dismissed Israel’s claims of “surgical strikes” causing no civilian damage, calling it “routine barbarity.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Baghaei highlighted recent Israeli attacks on civilian areas in Tehran, stating that women and children had been the primary targets.
Baghaei revealed that 73 women and children were killed in three Israeli airstrikes on Tehran, including 20 children who perished in Chamran Residential Complex, where 10 remain trapped under rubble even 48 hours later.
One of the deadliest Israeli strikes occurred early Friday morning in Tehran’s Nobonyad neighborhood, where an Israeli missile leveled an entire residential building, killing 60 civilians, including 20 children.
Rescue teams continue efforts to recover bodies from the debris, including those of children who remain buried beneath the wreckage.
Baghaei condemned Israel’s claims of surgical accuracy, describing them as a grim euphemism for targeting families, women, and children. “Their 'surgical accuracy'?! Targeting families, kids, and women.... That's the routine barbarity,” he wrote.
According to Iran’s Health Ministry, the total death toll from Israeli aerial strikes, which began on June 13 and have been supported by the United States, has reached 224 people, with 1,481 killed or wounded overall.
Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour criticized Israel’s claim that it only targets military sites, calling it a baseless and false narrative.
He reported that 1,277 of those affected have been hospitalized, with more than 90 percent identified as civilians. Of the wounded, 522 have been discharged, while 224 men, women, and children have lost their lives in the attacks.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Mohammadreza Zafarghandi reiterated that the majority of casualties from Israel’s aggression on Iran in recent days have been civilians, including a significant number of women and children.
